FAQ

Which platform do you use to build your websites?

For our Real Estate websites, we use the Dynamic IDX platform. This is a custom made platform, designed 100% around the MLS database.

For our non-Real Estate websites, we use WordPress for the most part. This platform is flexible, easy to customize, and you can always backup your database and design files and take them with you to any hosting company if needed, therefore you never lose your website’s content.

We also work with other platforms upon request.

How long does it take for you to deliver a website?

It will depend on the type of project, but usually within 1-2 weeks you will have the first draft ready. For shopping cart websites (eCommerce) it will be within 3-4 weeks for the first draft to be ready.

Will I have access to my website's back-end?

Yes. We can grant full or limited access to any company member, depending on the role and computer skills possessed.

Do you take care of my website after is live?

Yes, we have monthly maintenance plans (webmaster services) starting at $40 per month.

We can also train you how to do easy/regular changes to your website like address update, adding new team members, blog posts etc. And can assist you with the “techy stuff” when needed at an hourly rate.

Are hosting and maintenance the same?

No, they are not.
Hosting is the fee associated with the physical server space and bandwidth needed in order to have your website live and running fast 24/7/365. Hosting fees can be paid month to month, or yearly for peace of mind and possible discounts depending on your hosting plan. Our basic hosting fees start at $7.99 per month.
Maintenance fees cover web content, graphic design and database updates needed to be performed by the web designer/developer if the website owner is not tech-savvy enough, or simply does not have the time to do so. These fees can be paid as needed by hourly rate, month to month, or quarterly/biannual/yearly to receive discounts.

What types of payment do you accept?

For local clients, we accept payments in the form of cash, checks and credit/debit cards. For our out of state or country clients, we accept credit/debit cards, ACH transfers (bank to bank), and PayPal. Our PayPal link is: https://www.paypal.me/martewebdesign

Are your websites SEO ready?

Yes, we deliver all our non-Real Estate websites with Yoast SEO plugin installed (number 1 SEO plugin for WordPress), and with all basic keywords and descriptions already entered.

Our Real Estate Dynamic IDX websites are also delivered SEO/SEM ready, and each page has a tab to add SEO meta data.

Whichever type of website you purchase from us, you or your marketing company can easily add, modify/improve the provided meta data content. We also offer a Marketing Starter Package for new and existing clients, whether or not your website was designed by us.

Will my website rank number one on Google right after you make it live?

No. Organic positioning takes time and a marketing plan. We deliver our websites SEO ready, which means when Google and other search engines search through the web, your website will be indexed in the correct business category. This is step number 1, of many, to be able to rank number 1 on Google organically. We can guide you in the right direction so you can choose the right marketing plan for your new website.

Do I really need a web designer/developer to set up my WordPress website? My domain name company offers me a free WordPress website with hosting plan purchase.

More than likely. Unless you understand web design, graphic design and web programming concepts, you will need experienced help to make your WordPress website look professional and unique, and to make sure all functional parts (forms, calendars, payment gateways, etc.) work properly so you don’t lose potential clients and sales.

Our website packages start at $1,000 and you are fully covered for the first year with hosting and SSL certificate.

How about using Wix or Squarespace to make my own website? I don’t need to know web programming or design to make a free website on these platforms.

The main reason we do not recommend using these types of platforms whether you use their free or paid version, is the content you upload into their system DOES NOT belong to you. Once you cancel your website with them, you will be left with zero or very minimal content you can reuse, and will have to start from scratch if you need to build a website again. This is terrible for marketing purposes. Companies should always own their website content.

Also, their platforms are not that intuitive to use as expected. They claim to be a simple “drag and drop” interface, but you still need to know at least graphic design and web design basics to come up with a website that looks good and functions properly. Most people do not achieve this on their own, and are forced to buy their paid versions. Therefore, at the end you rarely get the free website you were promised.

Squarespace does not offer any free plans, and their hosting plans start at $12 per month. They allow you to modify design files (CSS) but again, if you are not familiar with web programming, you will need to settle for a premade template that tons of other people are using as well.
Our monthly hosting plans start at $7.99

Wix offers a free website option, but they include Wix adds you cannot remove, and that does not look professional at your end. Wix claims to give you “free hosting” when you upgrade to a paid monthly plan, but they are actually charging you hosting in that fee, and at an overpriced rate. Their hosting plans start at $11 per month. Once you choose a Wix template, you cannot change it, therefore updating your site’s look is nearly impossible unless you are willing to start a new website with them. They do not allow custom CSS work.

Do you recommend any premade website platforms?

The only time we would recommend a premade and/or “free” website design, is if you need a small shopping cart (eCommerce) website, 10 products or less, and don’t want to deal with the pricier set-up and design fees associated with building this type of website from scratch, and are OK with not owning your store content 100%. We recommend Shopify and Volusion. But be aware all these premade platforms charge you an additional transaction fee per purchase besides the credit card processing fees.

We can help you set these stores up at an hourly rate. However, if you are serious about your online business, we will always recommend hiring a professional web design/development company to build one for you. Even though the initial investment may seem steep, it will save you money in the long run.
Our eCommerce website packages start at $3,200 and you are fully covered for the first year with hosting and SSL certificate.
